As many of you are aware, on July 15, 2024, severe weather moved through our area and Van Bortel Subaru of Victor experienced a hailstorm that damaged many of our new Subaru and pre-owned vehicles. We positioned these vehicles with cosmetic damage in our first-ever, (and hopefully last), Hail Sale! Customers have taken advantage of huge savings and amazing deals on new and pre-owned vehicles with various types of hail damage, ranging from mild to severe. After all, it's an extremely rare opportunity to save thousands of dollars on a vehicle!

Our Hail Sale vehicles are priced individually based on the level of damage and will be sold "as-is" after any mandatory repairs have been completed. (A mandatory repair is a repair that must be completed in order for a vehicle to pass a NYS Safety Inspection, such as the replacement of a broken windshield).

Is purchasing a hail-damaged vehicle for you?

For some, cosmetic damage and other concerns have people saying, "Hail No!" but for others, small dings and big savings have them rejoicing, "Oh Hail Yes!" Read more here, do some research, and connect with a Specialist to see if purchasing a hail-damaged vehicle is for you.

Can a new vehicle with hail damage be leased?

The answer is no. A new vehicle with hail damage cannot be leased. Hail-damaged vehicles listed in the Hail Sale are available for purchase only.

Are financing options available on a hail-damaged vehicle?

The answer is yes, based on credit approval of course. In addition, banks reserve the right to limit the total amount financed based on the condition of the vehicle. Our Finance Department is working with lenders who offer auto loans on both new and used vehicles with hail damage. Customers who are interested in financing a hail-damaged vehicle may choose to explore financing options at our dealership. Please ask your Sales Specialist for details.

Do new vehicles with hail damage come with a factory warranty?

The answer is yes, but certain exclusions shall apply with regard to paint and corrosion coverages. For new Subaru vehicles, full mechanical coverage will be provided and become effective per the Subaru of America, Inc. warranty terms and conditions, however, Subaru reserves the right to deny any factory paint and corrosion warranty coverages based on damage to the paint and body caused by hail.

Do pre-owned vehicles with hail damage come with a factory warranty?

The answer would be yes, if the original factory has not expired, but certain exclusions shall apply with regard to paint and corrosion coverages. For pre-owned vehicles, any current and existing mechanical coverage that has not expired would remain effective per the manufacturer's terms and conditions, however, Subaru and other manufacturers reserve the right to deny any factory paint and corrosion warranty coverages based on damage to the paint and body caused by hail.

Do auto insurance companies provide coverage regardless of hail damage?

The answer is most commonly yes, however, insurance providers may limit coverages on vehicles with pre-existing hail damage. Every insurance company is different so we suggest that you reach out to your agent or provider to inquire. It is the responsibility of the consumer and or purchaser to contact your insurance provider to inquire about insurance coverages on a vehicle with pre-existing hail damage and to disclose any pre-existing hail damage or cosmetic damage prior to purchasing said vehicle.
