Van Bortel Subaru History
The Van Bortel automotive family began with humble beginnings and has grown over the years based on our commitment to our valued customers and our outstanding employees. Some highlights of our growth:
- Kitty Van Bortel opened a used car dealership in the front yard of a rented house on Route 96 in Victor, NY back in 1985, starting with an investment of only $500.
- In 1991, Kitty launched Van Bortel Subaru and it soon became one of the biggest Subaru dealerships in the country.
- The company added Van Bortel Ford in 2001, then Van Bortel Chevrolet in 2012 and a second Subaru location, Van Bortel Subaru of Rochester in 2018.
- Kitty and our family of dealerships have been recognized for exceptional professional achievement and an unwavering commitment to supporting charitable causes in our community.
- Kitty has received a large number of honors and awards and was named the 2016 Time Dealer of the Year.
- Over the years, Kitty and her outstanding staff have established a highly respected collection of award-winning dealerships, creating one of the most successful enterprises in the area.
